Ubuntu provides most of the functionality which Microsoft Windows or Mac OS provides.You can do multiple works at the same time just like Windows and Mac OS.You can have multiple user accounts with different access power.There are some extra benefits of using Ubuntu is that you can have many Desktop environments like Gnome, Kde, Lxde etc.You can either install Gnome 3 or install Kde or any other, in your Ubuntu side by side with Unity.Its all your choice that which desktop you want to run and like most which you can’t do in the Windows.
Ubuntu 11.10 Unity has improved much more from the previous version.Gnome 3 which was not supported in the Ubuntu 11.04 is now available to install and use in the Ubuntu 11.10.Gnome 3 it the Next Generation desktop environment with more functionality and productivity in compare to other desktop.Unity is also similar to Gnome 3 in some respect.Talking about Kde, it is also has nice look and good collection of software applications and some of them are far better than Unity.
Creating multiple user accounts is a nice feature in Operating System. Having multiple account some times necessary and requited by most of the users.In Ubuntu you can create new users as per the requirements.Creating new user in Ubuntu will help the administration to have safety with its files and application.The multiple user account is required when your system is used by many users.So there may be a chance of losing data, files etc and by creating new user accounts for everyone according to there use will makes everyone happy and your data will be safe also.So in this post i will tell you how you can create new user account and change password in Ubuntu 11.10.
Creating new user account in Ubuntu
1.Open the “System Settings” from the Left panel(for Unity user) or go to the top right corner of your desktop and click on “user account name”(for Gnome 3 users).
2.Double click on “user account” this will open a window.In that window click on “Unlock” button and give account password.
3.Now click on plus(+) button to create new user account.Give the name to the user account.For setting password for the user click on password and set the user password, it also shows the strength of your password.From the same window you can change the account type Language, Automatic Login settings also.
4.For seeing whether the user account has been created or not just logout the session.In the login prompt you will see that the user has been created.If you want to use that account just select it and give password you have set for the account.
Deleting user account
If you want to delete the user account which is now of no use then click on the minus(-) button and click on delete file.This will delete the account and remove all the files related to it.
